Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
class and I have had to teach myself the information to understand what is going on. ~I think some students could afford to spend half a class at the beginning getting a "conlaw for dummies" almost; this is the first class where i felt like the general scope was not understood by students and this reality could have been easily prevented ~her cold calls are too intimidating; makes participating scary-that benefits NOBODY ~too much reading, it took hours upon hours to fully read and we wouldnt always tough on it all or some would be more important: lowering reading requirements gives students chance to do it thoroughly without insane stress which is way better than students feeling like they shouldnt read at all cause they cant possibly do it all 100% Cold calls were a bit too hard. I only wish I had more time to peruse the Sullivan hornbook and bask in the Socratic wonder of Con Law. Thank you Professor Readings were very lengthy, sometimes felt like much of what was read was not applicable to exam/ class discussion Class discussion was not lively Unfortunately, Professor Landers does not create a very collaborative environment that is conducive to learning. She often seems bothered by questions and she often seeks to embarass students. Further, her cold calls are not effective. While I have no issue with being cold called, Professor Landers never sums up the main points of what she was attempting to get at with the student. In other words, we never actually learn the constitutional law principle, and often just hear students ramble nervously for 45 minutes. I think the professor’s teaching style could be improved. The class is not taught in a way in which the professor tries to explain the reading done and clear up any confusion. The class is mainly what each student’s opinion is from the reading. The professor is very disorganized and hard to follow. I’m not sure if there’s really anything Professor Landers should be doing differently. I think that constitutional law generally is a bit complicated, as indicated by my friends with different professor and from other law schools. The one thing that I think would be extremely helpful is if Professor Landers maybe gave more periodic updates about what she wants us to be focusing on before we do the readings. We haven’t quite been staying on pace with the syllabus so sometimes it’s a bit hard to pace the readings. In all aspects. - I strongly believe that she should work on Public speaking and how to respond to students when they share their opinion, input or answer a question asked rather than making us feel like we are incompetent of understanding the opinions from the cases we read. - The class was extremely disorganized and hard to follow I felt that the material was incredibly relevant, but that it was not presented in a clear manner. I think being clear about what each class’s assignments should be would be helpful. Maybe provide a
