Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
roadmap at the end of each class. There is too much filler that results in us getting through a very small portion of the original syllabus- sometimes she is too welcoming to questions and we need to move on. I really can’t say just because Constitutional law is such a complex topic to begin with and was already challenging. Perhaps having monthly review sessions in class would be helpful (kind of like the TA’s review slides) but arguably that’s what the quizzes were for. Professor Landers asks confusing questions and doesn’t finishes her sentences. She sometimes screams when people aren’t giving her the right answer. She almost speaks down to all of the students in a condescending manner. She could promote a more comfortable and open learning environment. This class needs to be way more clear. The way it was presented was 100% opinion-based and did not help me learn what the court ruled when they ruled on a specific issue. The cases we focused a lot of our time on ended up not even being relevant because they were cases that were overturned. The questions asked in class made the material more confusing and the professor would skip a question if you didn’t know the answer instead of helping us get the right answer. Professor Lander’s questions to students were very confusing at points, causing students to ask for a rephrasing of the question. More clear and concise questions would be helpful. The questions asked were not clear and most of the time students did not know what she was asking. Her lectures were hard to follow and the amount of "um"s said made it hard to follow her sentences. Organization! Prof. Landers is wonderful, but the class goes off on too many tangents and takes too much time on the historical context of the Court’s decision than actually discussing the rule of the case! Different professor I think the course should begin with individual rights to make it more engaging for students A professor that is more qualified. Landers is overqualified and thinks we know everything that she knows. A professor who will break the material down more simply would be more effective in my opinion. the professor could be alot better. The teaching method. We were only given half of a syllabus. The end of the syllabus was given to us a week before the end of the semester and included several hundred pages of reading on essential elements of the 1L curriculum. THIS IS JUST OUTRAGEOUS AND INFURIATING!!! Readings to be cut down - yes it is con law, but many times, cases were skimmed over and it didn’t make sense that we read so much for it to be looked over and not relevant. Additionally. there could be a more simple way to go through the concepts of the case - oftentimes it felt as if I didn’t know what to take away or that the TA sessions did not match up with what we learned.
