Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved?
Talking more about how an actual judge would rule on them and how they each connect More clear about what we need to know for the final exam and in general what we should focus on Discussion in class was more of a phylosophical approach, which can sometimes be hard to follow I know it is a doctrinal course, but I really benefit from small class sizes to encourage participation and a better learning atmosphere The course is more focused on the structure of branches rather than on constitutional rights in themselves, which unfortunately are addressed in less proportion and it is the most exciting part of the class. Answering questions in class - even if they arent related directly to the material that day Reyes could be more supportive of student questions that he deems "outside the scope" of the conversation. The only thing was that the reading was heavy, especially with the level of detail that Reyes covers it. Instead of a midterm review session, I think I would have preferred a practice essay or a series of short answer questions. I think if we were provided with more of an outline as to what to expect throughout the semester, it would be beneficial. I loved class and the discussions, however I sometimes felt confused on what I was supposed to take away from the cases. N/A. I really, really like Professor Reyes as a person; he’s the most enthusiastic, genuine, understanding, passionate professor I’ve had thus far at Suffolk, but his teaching style, in my opinion, is extremely haphazard and all over the place with no sort of overarching umbrella/ structure to follow in class. We typically move case by case in relation to each topic we’re discussing, but he just stands and lectures in a way that is so hard to follow along with and take notes. I think there needs to be more organization/structure and should change for future students. The assigned reading is hefty throughout the semester with several cases highlighting the same points. It may be beneficial to focus on assigning one case that clearly summarizes each main idea. really hard course for me personally, maybe it would be helpful to identify steps to each section we went over, can get confusing introducing so much history and cases makes it hard to focus on the current law and what we need to know for the exam. I think identifying steps helps to frame a way to study for the exam and then fill in cases and historical changes after. Way too much reading assigned for each class, significantly more than any other 4 credit course I have taken thus far. This also forces Prof. Reyes to have to speed through some material at
