In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

The talking about the cases all together in final exam perspective/ how a judge would rule on them We will be more prepared for the bar since this is a challenging Subject In understanding the foundations of american law. Necessary to learn The difficulty of the course work made me understand the abstract theories of law better This class is foundational to everything I will do as a lawyer and improved me as a human. Professor Reyes challenged the class to follow, step-by-step the analytical framework of each case and I think it really helped me improve my ability to read complex cases and pull out the main arguments. I really loved the discussions we had in class, as it gave me a more well-rounded understanding of the law. See above. The way that we analyze cases for Con Law, deeply analyzing the language term by term, their historical notions, legislative intent, etc. is and will be an extremely helpful tool moving forward for my professional and intellectual development. It’s taught me how to read between the lines while also taking literal meaning for what it is at face value. I’ve become more comfortable speaking in class due to the environment Professor Reyes provides. Each class encouraged me to look at the content from several different points of view and formulate counter-arguments understanding rulings more clearly after this course and different laws I learned how to read complicated, dense Supreme Court cases and pull out the necessary themes. In many. Course helped me understand all subjects a bit more as well as analyze cases a bit better. Makes you think about everything Reyes does encourage students to think critically about societal issues paired with Constitutional issues I enjoyed the Socratic method Prof Reyes used. It encouraged participation without causing anxiety. Understanding the Court’s reasoning for applying a rule to a given set of facts, when the Court often applies rules in confusing and seemingly contradictory ways, improved my ability to synthesize cases and recognize interpretative choices made by the judiciary. Gaining knowledge of constitutional law Better understanding of function and history of the Supreme Ct., and analyzing lengthy cases. I feel confident that I have the foundation for interpreting fundamental constitutional questions and that I have all the tools to expand upon that foundation. This is due in large part to Professor Reyes’s clear and comprehensive lecturing style.
