Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

by keeping the class very open for discussion and allowing students to participate as they desired. nothing Professor Pokorak began made each class enjoyable through his lectures and music choices. Professor Polkorak has a lot going on which I understand but from day one he was unable to stay on track with our syllabus and would talk about unrelated topics for 75% of the class and then speed through the cases which left us wondering why we read at all. Professor Pokorak was a committed, caring and engaged professor who wanted to inspire us. He genuinely wanted to hear our thoughts and connect with us (for example having panels where he could meet with a small group students and then equip them with the materials so they would be able to "teach" the class for a day). Professor Pokorak should focus on only discussing the materials listed in the syllabus and not spend 1 hour talking about other things that are totally unrelated. Prof. Pokorak is a really cool guy & professor. He made class fun & interesting, but I do wish we could have ended the semester with him even though I know he needed to step away for personal reasons. I hope I can take a class with him in the future. I cannot give an accurate evaluation because we did not have a full semester with Professor Pokorak Prof. Pokorak was extremely kind and fostered a good learning environment. I thought the book was well done. I enjoyed reading it. Professor Reyes: Everything about your instruction was super helpful: it was clear, organized, fast-paced (in a good way), and highly engaging. I appreciate how respectful you are about cold-calling. I also really appreciated how you handled the sensitive topics of race and sex/ gender, emphasizing how catastrophically badly American law has handled race over time and acknowledging the difference between sex and gender and validating diverse gender identities at the start of the class on that topic. Thanks so much for taking over our class on short notice! The slide presentations really afford me the chance to visualize the material and hearing the Professor lecture while also having the slides helped for both visual and auditory learning processes.
