Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

What did you like most about the online portion of the course and what areas could be improved?

The flexibility that was afforded through the virtual platform helped me balance my schedule. I loved the flexibility that it offered and the stress of attending in person class when something, such was illness, did not all it. I felt so much more at ease knowing I could log on and always attend my class. I liked the flexibility of the online class. I think that in class may have been more engaging because things tend to be more interesting in person and online can sometimes be distracting. I prefer online classes so I was happy with all aspects. - This class was great. The professor is super organized, knowledgeable, and just practical. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this class. I also appreciate that the professor is willing to work through essays with students. Thank you! I loved how engaging Prof. Ahearn was. I didn’t notice a difference between taking this class online and other in person classes. He also really knew how to "read" the zoom room, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the visual supplements and the course discussions. Overall, the online portion was fine. There was an attempt to make the class as engaging as possible. Online classes are just hard and I think that for me personally I would have gotten more out of the class had it been in person. This class was a very good fit for online. I liked the length of time, the time it was offered made it possible for part time students to enroll, that he seemed to appreciate but not require attendance or participation made it easier for us who are juggling jobs while learning, and the lecture style was engaging and thorough. Liked that we didnt have a textbook, but thought some of the cases were pretty long for eventual short review. Thought some of the other students were very active participants taking away from teaching but dont think theres much else that Prof. could have done. Note to SULS: Keep the remote options. They are critical for night students; they are valuable for day students and go toward the flexibility Suffolk has always sought to create for its students. Showing the video in class wasn’t a great use of time and could have been assigned to us as a homework assignment. I did appreciate seeing forms but I did not appreciate the amount of time dedicated to going over the forms when we wouldn’t be tested on or even really need to know about them.
