Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved?
Perhaps making the syllabus a little more detailed to follow along Understanding what reading is expected each week.
more organization, a clearer syllabus with only readings we actually need to know for the class The organization and instruction of this class was practically nonsensical in its teaching style. I would end the class not even knowing what we were supposed to have taken away and there were no use of visual aids to relay material. This is a common takeaway from every person I know who has taken this class. Additionally, the comments made at the beginning of each class related to COVID were so inappropriate that one student could not continue coming to class. Truly unacceptable and tone deaf in a professional setting and did not set a good example for emerging attorneys. a different professor Visual aids like a powerpoint to show what topics are being discussed would be extremely helpful to be able to stay focused and how the stories apply to the topics we are discussing. just having an option for live zoom. I can only seem to watch the stream after class (twice I had to stay at work for server/engineering issues, but I would have liked to watch the live stream if it was available). Sometime the stories become to much and I get confused because that main point is lost on me. It was also be easier or nice to have slides to follow along with - otherwise it gets confusing and feels a bit chaotic. I do not have any suggestions for improvement. Maybe more of an outline or slides so that we can tell exactly what is important. Just because Prof. Pizzano has so many stories, I think it would be useful to keep the students on track - or at least in the loop about the most important topics/ rules/ definitions in the course. I am a visual learner, so I prefer powerpoints or handouts, but I understand the professor struggles with technology. It would be nice to have something visual during the lectures such as a PowerPoint. I really enjoy Professor Pizzano’s hypotheticals and stories, they break down the complicated or less interesting concepts in fun, accessible ways. Sometimes though, Pizzano would be reminded of another story and jump to that story, without finishing the point of the first story. So we would get two or three stories deep before returning to the point of the first story. Walking through one at a time, highlighting the point of the example, and then moving to the next story would be much easier to follow. How this Professor came to be an instructor for this course is beyond me. I have never had such an ineffective professor during my time at Suffolk. He does not follow his syllabus and bounces around making it impossible to feel prepared for reading. Moreover, he gets on tangents during
