Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

Learning a lot of relevant issues in health law, but also revisiting and reinforcing fundamental topics including constitutional law, torts, and contracts in a more practical sense. Great discussions and examination of different perspectives/opinions regarding sensitive topics. The class materials relate to information I am most interested in, and fulfills a concentration requirement. Class presentations on topics helped develop public speaking. This course forced me to explore my opinions on relatively controversial topics while engaging in discussions with others who may or may not share my opinions. I am a health law major, and I believe this class provided me the fundementals about the law, policy, and ethics surrounding biomedical law. I learned a lot about how I can advocate for myself in healthcare. it enhanced my ability to think critically when analyzing medical and health care decisions. I feel as though I am better able to spot conflicts of interest in the medical field. Having opportunities to present on a topic really explored my way of thinking and allowed me to express myself creatively which played a part in my professional development. The material we read in class helped me understand the topics raised in class, and the videos we viewed in class were very interesting and eye-opening It helped in understanding various aspects of the intersectionality of constitutional rights and health care. It taught me a lot of the areas in which the biomedical field is regulated and ways in which the field could benefit from further regulation. It also covered a lot on conflicts of interests present in the field.
