Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

The multiple choice are tricky but helped me think critically which will help me in real life lawyering. Professor Shin taught me torts, which I need for the bar. Understanding Torts effectively in an organized/clear method The slides we use during class. It is very easy to take notes and clear what he wants you to know Makes you think about real life situations in a whole different aspect. How to analyze torts which happen in every day life. This class provided me with the basics of tort law. I do not plan on pursuing tort law in the future, but these basics concepts are important to understand. Torts has helped me as it introduced me to a type of law that I did not think I would have any interest in. I learned the fundamentals to torts that will be necessary for the bar exam Professor Shins class promoted a great environment that supported conversations, opinions, and questions. My intellectual development enhanced because the environment supported a healthy learning situation. Professor Shin is a great instructor and I feel lucky to have him as my torts professor. His slides are extremely straightforward and he does a great job explaining hypotheticals. I hope to have him as a future professor. I liked taking the quizzes because they were graded and that helped me actually focus more on the material instead of just being worried about what grade I was getting. Broke everything down to make understanding easier and easier to apply I learnt how non-criminal injuries can be assessed and possible defenses. I think it benefited my professional development by allowing me to see how any injuries can have an affect. Improved my critical thinking and analytical ability by being able to take a lot of rules and apply them to various hypos and fact patterns. Dean Shin’s torts class benefitted me professionally because I am now considering working in personal injury law (or any sort of tort related law). The class benefitted me intellectually by teaching me a subject that every lawyer needs to know and that will prepare me for the bar exam. Torts class was one of the only classes my 1L year that I genuinely enjoyed going to every week. All classes and information were conveyed precisely, and simply. He truly taught us all of the ins and outs of basic tort law.
