Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved?
A little slow sometimes but overall an engaging and interesting class. The way Dean Shin teaches, it’s on a level that takes a lot of time to understand. Less cases so we can focus more when we read The pace. Sometimes we have one too many hypotheticals that I feel could be avoided. n/a. I think a little more instruction on how to apply the rules in an essay context would be helpful. Toward the end of the semester, too much reading was packed on. Having the reading more spread out would be better for learning the material. I think we could’ve moved at a slightly faster pace throughout the year so that we didn’t have to watch 2 additional classes at the end when the stress of finals has approached. Some of the material i feel as if we could’ve gone over briefly rather than spending half the class on the one topic. intoxication case and I think it would be nice to be warned if we are going to be on call. There is ALOT of material for torts, and a ton of concepts that fall under each element. A few times, professor Shin would be taking about Actual causation, but then stopped and went into Damages, then went back to Proximate causation. IMO, it would make the most sense to present the material in a solid flow. It would have been helpful to learn Duty, then the defense to Duty directly after, and so on for all of the elements. Moved a bit too quickly towards the end of the year. Less essay questions on the midterm. It was very hard to finish getting through all the questions in only an hour. - Less questions on the midterm. More practice problems, graded quizzes that we go over in class. My only critique would be that towards the end of the semester, I feel like the readings were too heavy given the time crunch to complete all the readings and outlining and studying for every class. I would prefer more reading towards the beginning than the end of the semester. None come to mind. Law school is hard no matter what subject it is. Dean Shin’s teaching style helps reduce the burden of law school by explaining complicated legal concepts in a clear, simple manner. Nothing! nothing Nothing I don’t think much could be done, maybe more practice quizzes to assess where students are. We could do more interactive learning activities like when we watched the news story about the water
