In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?
It is an important topic in tax that hasn’t been focused on in the other tax courses so it was interesting to learn State and Local Tax is a complex web with a lot of pitfalls. Class was excellent at training on check and then check again. Know your timelines. When to file/Where to file and really setting a way to be organized to foresee potential issues. The structure of the class and the syllabus’ deviation from the order of the textbook made the content far easier to understand, as we developed an understanding of fundamental tax concepts before moving on to more complicated, high-level topics. The professor talked about not only legal theory but how practitioners tended to apply those theories and practices It enhanced my understanding of the field where I will likely practice post grad. Again, Professor Dyment brings tons of professional perspective to the classroom which, as someone entering the workforce soon, brings a lot of value beyond what we learn in the textbook. great deep dive in the practice of SALT and acocunting firms in general I think this was a great and niche part of tax law that I enjoyed
