OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? As someone who wants to go into complex civil litigation, this class really helped me further my understanding of civil procedure, both from a rule based and theoretical based approach. I learned practical and theoretical aspects of civil procedure. I tended to appreciate the theoretical aspects more and found those more interesting. Allowed me to enhance my knowledge and understanding on civil procedure but also understand on a deeper level how the adversary system is supposed to work. Challenged me to think very critically about these topics that are difficult. Also became more knowledgeable and confident in this topic/material. Gaining a deeper understanding about the policy rationale and fundamental goals behind our civil system of justice is very important The class was though provoking and got me to think critically about civil procedure. I feel as though this critical perspective will help me become a more effective litigator and advocate. The type of conversations we had - Professor Simard gave us resources with different perspectives that we could compare and then form our own opinions on the topics.
