In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? Professor Glannon taught me to pay very close attention to the wording of certain rules/cases. I think this will be a very useful skill to carry forward in my professional career. I knew very little about Civil Procedure before taking this course, so each class enhances by professional and intellectual development. Prof. Glannon expects and holds a high level of decorum and commands respect for himself and his students. Civil Procedure itself is key to understanding and framing my understanding of the law. Professional development - Glannon always kept me on my toes. When I raise my hand to answer something, he sticks with me and asks a follow-up question with different facts. This taught me to be comfortable thinking on my feet amidst a challenge. He also pushes us to speak with clarity and carefully articulate our thoughts in class, which has prepared me to argue before a judge. Intellectual development - I constantly felt intellectually challenged in Glannon ' s class in a very positive way. When a concept seemed simple, he showed us where there was ambiguity; when a concept was difficult, he broke it down into bite-sized pieces and knitted them together. He encouraged and demonstrated step-by-step analytical thinking. Civil Procedure forced me to articulate and analyze issues more clearly and concisely than I had ever done before. I have a great understanding of civil proceeding and able to explain it thoroughly to others. I felt challenged in this class but it never felt impossible like other classes have. Prof. Glannon speaks to and engages with the class like we are actually adults and is the only class I felt we had a productive and interesting dialogue rather than him reading directly from the textbook at us. I thought the subject matter would be boring but he made it interesting and engaging and I took a lot from the class. I believe civil procedure is the foundation of all civil suits and will be used in my daily work life in the future It encouraged us to think about all the possible scenarios of a situation. The hypotheticals were very helpful in class, especially when they were written on the board. Helping to form a clear and concise statement from the knowledge gleaned from the course It helped me learn how to apply the law to a variety of circumstances and also learn about the proper procedure for the law. I think the cases and hypotheticals brought light to important issues of civil procedure that a lawyer must implement on a daily basis - super interesting and engaging. Professor Gannon kept myself, and the whole class, on their toes with requiring us to provide contextual evidence to each answer (chapter and verse). This will forever be engrained in my memory, and every time in my future profession, I know I will think back to Gannon questioning where our authority came from. Additionally, the rapid movement between hypotheticals, including the interworking of multiple federal rules, challenged me to think critically about
