OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

my own. I think that Civil Procedure is very important to understanding how the court systems work and the proper procedure in court as well as before a trial. I also think Civil Procedure taught me how to help myself and teach myself the material. This course taught me how to reach out to my colleagues and teaching assistant to help learn the concepts we needed to understand for this course. Our teaching assistant was absolutely amazing. He did biweekly review sessions that basically taught the course. He was always available and willing to meet with students during his office hours and outside of his office hours, unlike our professor. He gave use helpful hypotheticals and answered questions very clearly and effectively. I also was able to learn from other students in my class and we were able to enhance our learning in that style. Gave me the foundation for understanding civil procedure I know a little from civil procedure forming working at a law firm before I come. It is very helpful to me here. However I feel like this class has been more about the fundamentals of parents, copyright, and trademark rather than civil procedure. It seems that we do not have adequate preparation from the professor. We have not received tips, hypotheticals, or even review on the midterm. The midterm was peer reviewed which did not help at all. All of us are completely lost, so it was people equally lost grading each other’s midterms. It was not fair to us and our development in the class. Civil procedure is the manual of litigation which is an area that I am interested in, therefore learning these rules, regardless that they were self-taught, really benefits my professional and intellectual development She really challenged your way of thinking and pushed you to think outside of the box It made me self-learn a majority of the concepts and reach out to my TA and other sites to learn. Our TA, Nathan Andrews, was incredibly beneficial and helpful to my understanding of the material, responded to questions and feedback beyond what was probably within his responsibilities as a TA. I feel like the class was saved by his involvement. He gave great advice, responded to questions with compassion, and explained the material in a clear, concise, and respectful way. I do not think that we should be using the textbook that we are using. Professor Burstein explained that she preferred it because of the leading questions it asked, but it never answers any of those questions and she would refuse to answer them in class so it was more confusing than it was an effective textbook. The content of Civil Procedure is absolutely so important and I can certainly see how knowing this will help me immensely. I ' m grateful to have a better grasp on how civil procedure works in our country. Staying organized is important. Prof. wants us to know every detail of the textbook for the final exam. It is open book, but if not organized there will be no way of accessing this information
