OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? The best thing about this class was learning tips and tricks for adobe acrobat and formatting word documents. Writing and public speaking skills were improved. I ' m writing and speaking in a different style which is helping me learn and increase my legal experience. Yes. This class improved my writing skills. Learned real-life lawyering skills and added in my legal writing abilities I am able to better question an appellate justice ' s reasoning, and can understand how to better see the exceptions within appellate cases when new cases are argued on trial review. Learning to write a brief is a pretty big aid to my development, but honestly the way Prof Rosseel puts concepts of practice together and sort of weaves in and out of ideas helped me develop my legal competence more. This is one of the best classes I have taken at Suffolk Law in terms of teaching me the practical aspects of lawyering. Prof. Rosseel supplements the required reading with his own experiences and makes the somewhat dull text come alive, which allowed me to see the real-world application of the rules of appellate practice. Prof. Rosseel also emphasized the importance of legal ethics. I feel 100% prepared to prepare an appeal the moment I am licensed. Also, reading appellate court decisions when they are released is a habit I will strive to maintain throughout the rest of my schooling and my career. 1. Learning how to correctly format a brief 2. Learning the different aspects of MA appellate laws 3. Learning the importance of preserving issues given the varying standards of review on appeal.
