OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? The brief writing was the only helpful part of the class. I expected this class to be like LPS but for appellate practice and that wasnt at all what it was like. It ' s a very practical class. I ' m not just sitting her absorbing information I ' m actually putting it to use and being evaluated on it. Luke is really helpful with technical writing skills, understanding the rules of appellate practice, and brings a wealth of experience to each class that was really helpful in completing the work. I enjoyed the review of current cases and the reading material Prof. Rosseel ' s discussion of the material, associated with extremely recent cases has taught me how to appropriately analyze appellate decisions, to the extent where I feel more than prepared as an appellate practicioner. I like the organized approach, the open discussions, and the interesting tangents. Prof. Rosseel always revisited a topic from an earlier class to provide additional understanding and learning, especially when it related to an area of law that I (and likely others) in the class had not previously encountered. His substantive feedback on draft briefs significantly helped my writing. One major aspect that enhanced my learning was reviewing many different appellate cases throuhgouht the course. The additional cases furthered my knowledge and understanding of Massachusetts law incredibly.
