Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
played at the start of each class to begin our discussion on a Constitutional topic. I also found his teaching engaging and relevant; however, I did have a hard time following at times due to the lack of structure in the course or when we spent a lot of time on current events. Additionally, when we fell behind in the syllabus, I had a hard time recalling information from passed assigned readings. I think Professor Pokorak had a lot going on this semester and feel that this class may not have been representative of his teaching. I have a strong feeling that he cares about his students and wanted to be more available than he was. I wish the best for him and his family. I was sorry that Professor Pokorak could not complete the course and am sure his next class will be better organized at a better time for him. I cannot give an accurate evaluation because we did not have a full semester with Professor Pokorak Switching to a different professor a month before the exam was obviously not great. Professor Reyes was great, and it would have been great to have had him all year as a professor, but it was such a different style of learning and shift that I am not sure how the exam will go. I also don’t think that the Deans responded appropriately to our legitimate concerns. Prof. Pokorak, I think, would be better suited to seminar style classes. I hope Prof. Pokorak all the best and hope he is doing well. You can throw out the ratings (’agree’, ’neutral’, etc.)- I wasn’t sure how to rate, since we had two professors to whom I’d assign different ratings. I just wanted to submit these comments. I am sorry that Professor Pokorak could not complete this semester. Professor Reyes did an excellent job the rest of the semester and really helped us in using what we learned from both Professor Pokorak and himself, rather than coming in with the expectation that we would know his own syllabus from the entire year. I just wanted to say that I personally really enjoyed our time with Prof. Pokorak. His approach is very different from other classes and professors, but the subject matter warrants it and I appreciated it, personally. Current events and history are just as relevant to ConLaw as what’s in our case book.
