Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
Additional comments
Love Pok, Reyes is great too Prof. Pokorak’s teaching style is fun and engaging, but likely better suited for smaller classes/ seminars as opposed to a 1L lecture course. We were very behind, which was compounded by the professor’s late-semester departure and the handling of the transition has been poor. Making a midterm that was already unfair not count was a solution, but not having the chance to review/ learn what we got wrong wasn’t helpful at all. Professor Pokorak is an amazing person and very attentive to his students and I know he has been dealing with family issues this semester. However, I, unfortunately, do not feel that I have learned the material, which is concerning for the final and when the time comes to take the bar exam. We only covered about a month’s worth of material without very clear instruction and now have a completely different professor whose style of teaching is the complete opposite. While the P/F option partially addresses the issue, the fact that I paid to take this required course that is needed for the bar, and not really having learned much, is disheartening. I am strongly disappointed in the way the university has facilitated the transition from Prof. Pokorak to Prof. Reyes. Regardless of the extenuating circumstances that resulted in our section being placed with a new professor a month before finals, we were so far behind and were never going to learn all of the material from the start. Suffolk handled this transition terribly, and is profiting while we as students are left with additional stress and absolutely zero knowledge of Constitutional Law. Students in this class should have the value of the course credits credited to our accounts for future semesters. This class was not worth tuition. This truly was one of the worst classes I’ve taken in my life. It would’ve been more rewarding to simply read the book, come into class, and read the book again. We learned nothing except that the professor was friends with some of the justices. He is extremely nice and has great stories, I would not recommend he teach a big lecture class as he does his own thing and does not stick to the material we need for the BAR and important Con law material for other courses. He would be great to take a seminar with. He is super passionate about his work and it shows. This class was an extreme disappointment for how fundamental and consistently used the material will be in future practice. I feel this class was more of a history teacher giving a political rant than a professor who was truly passionate about giving his students the best Constitutional law education possible. So sorry to have lost him as a professor right at the end of the semester, I truly enjoyed his class. It would have been better for the midterm to count for our grades, as planned, in this transition. Sure, it was good practice, but it was an incredible waste of time that we could
