Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

I am not sure that it did. I like that we were given many past years exam questions in advance of the final so that we have time to think about how we would answer those questions. I found the content very interesting. We learned in-depth about the first amendment. It was interesting to learn how the supreme court decides cases and provides some insight into how our judicial system works (I don’t think it works well at the SC level). When on call, Professor Wilton asked challenging questions that you would not necessarily find in the reading, which allows you to think outside of the box and apply the cases to real life situations. Being on call in his class was a unique experience, and I enjoyed the back and forth with him. This course challenged me to think critically about "big" issues (discrimination, gay marriage, free speech, etc.). Also, I will likely deal with constitutional issues regardless of what area of law I chose to practice in.
