Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

What did you like most about the online portion of the course and what areas could be improved?

Well, it certainly helped with flexibility on the days when I was running around. ’-I think all seminars should have the option to be online. I liked the added flexibility of meeting on Zoom. It freed up time in my day and it was nice to not have to deal with commuting home after class. That being said, I do think we lost some camaraderie by having the class in a Zoom format. I was looking forward to this class as an opportunity to meet like-minded people and build some connections, but I felt like I really only got to know the Fellows I was teaching with. I would have appreciated having more opportunities to get to know other classmates, swap teaching experience/advice in smaller groups, etc. I also feel that our group discussions were not as lively on Zoom as they could have been in person - I know that I personally am sometimes less comfortable speaking up on Zoom than in person, and sometimes I felt that although we were discussing a very interesting topic, the Zoom format made the conversation less engaging. The online portion allowed flexibility in all of our crazy schedules and helped me personally maintain a better balance between school, being a person, and outside responsibilities Not much! The online portion was fine and easily accessible.
