In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

It is foundational information. I have a good understanding of how the rules operate in my practical application of the law. I think this is helpful in understanding the procedural background of cases we are reading for other classes. This would actually be a lot more helpful to have first semester. Learned civil procedure A better understanding of why procedure works the way it does is helpful, even if I don’t plan to litigate. It gave me a broader understanding of how the federal courts work. Very useful to understand how A can sue B, and details of what could happen after the initial complaint is filed. Getting a basic overview of civil litigation has benefitted by intellectual development in the sense that I now recognize issues in articles I read that discuss pending cases and understand the nuanced topics the authors refer to. I find that particularly fun and validating, knowing that walking away from this class I will retain a breadth of knowledge that I had no idea about before. I’m not sure yet - but at least I feel like I understand how courts operate a little better.
