Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? His approach on a group assignment was the first time working with a group wasnt a bad experience. He gave us time in class to work on the assignments and was very fair. I really appreciate the overall project in creating our law firms. This was very helpful and allowed for a sharing of ideas. I got a deeper understanding of how a small firm is created I liked the group project of small firms -- reading about theories is one thing, but to have to actually apply it is so much better. I think the group projects were helpful This class really helped me understand what it takes to run a solo practice. Prof. Garcia identifies and explains multiple things and situations that arise in solo practice that a student, who otherwise only attends substantive law classes, may not be aware of. These include insurance policies, how to pick a field of law, what client you want to cater to, marketing, etc. I definitely came out of this class better prepared for the legal world than I was coming in. Professor Garcia’s willingness to share his own successes and failures with us made it seem a lot less daunting to start a law firm than I previously thought, which was helpful for me.
