Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? Professor Bishop effectively answered students’ questions and ensured class understanding before moving on. Professor Bishop’s extensive knowledge of the subject and passion for the subject truly helped enhance the subject matter. I find Professor Bishop’s teaching style very effective, which is the main reason I took this course with him. There are moments in class where I may feel a little lost, but he inevitably brings his talking points full circle and makes it clear what we are to take away from class each day. Professor Bishop chose to disregard the tax information throughout the textbook, which helped make the material digestible. He easily could have held us responsible for this portion, but without a baseline understanding of tax, would have been a major waste of time. This saved time for us to focus on mastering the important material. I enjoy Professor Bishop’s teaching style, although it takes some getting used to. I especially appreciate that in our smaller class he entertained all questions and did not move on to the next concept until we were satisfied that we had sufficiently covered the topic of discussion. I have felt free to ask any relevant question that comes to mind in class and I have enjoyed learning from the questions of my classmates as well. Prof. Bishop has a very engaging class method and always keeps everyone on their toes - his cold calling style definitely made the class pay more attention and engage with the material. I certainly felt far more motivated to keep up with the readings knowing I could be called on at any moment. Prof. Bishop also has a great sense of humor and ties what we’re learning to real world events, helping us better understand how bus ent concepts work in reality. The professor always went through the reading in depth to make sure we understood the content I think my learning was enhanced in this class because I now know a great deal about legal entities ( even though the cooperate realm is not my specialty. Professor Bishop was very engaging when teaching the course material and made the class enjoyable. I enjoyed learning the material and the extra materials he provided really aided my understanding of the concepts. I found all our classroom discussions to be helpful and Professor Bishop was always available to answer any questions we had.
