Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

that there was too much reading. Assigning an entire chapter to read for one class was too much - it took a very long time to read and we often didn’t cover all of the material, which made it feel unnecessary to have spent so much time reading the chapter in advance of class. The syllabus was somewhat hard to follow. Clear in terms of the reading assignments for each class but dividing the syllabus into four documents made it hard to follow as the semester progressed. I don’t think we needed to learn about Colorado law as much as we did. Sometimes felt like we had to check too many places to find reading assignments (course calendar + syllabus + emails). Maybe better to just send an email each week saying what pages will be covered the next week. The overall cold-calling scheme is a bit confusing at times; a Tuesday person could still be assigned a problem for Thursday so that was a bit unclear at first. The drafting documents, while understandable, may not be the most realistic, as well. I’m not gonna lie, Prof Borison himself seems like a very nice person but his teaching/lecturing style needs a lot of work. He is obviously very knowledgeable in the subject he teaches but for some reason his lectures are boring and it’s hard to follow along. The book he co-wrote is actually really useful and helped me understand the material presented in class, but the lectures by themselves are not helpful at all.
