Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? Professor Borison was a great instructor. One thing that really helped was having the slideshows posted before class. The readings are pretty long so it was helpful that I could preview the slides to see which concepts the professor would spend more time on. The classroom instruction was great PowerPoint slides and personal experiences in the fields enhanced professor’s lectures. Professor was an expert on every subject they brought up and while one learned something every class, it was not the most respectful learning environment. The book & his PowerPoints were very helpful The professor gave us the opportunity to attend the other class time if we could not make our section’s time, which was helpful even if I didn’t need to take advantage of that. Professor Borison always tied the material back to the bar and MA, he also sent additional information and current events surrounding the topics. His slide shows helped me remain present and follow the course material . the powerpoints were very helpful - the problems in the text I really like how his slides contain all of the relevant information. The leturers were great. The real life examples were helpful. The hands on requirement of writing POA and health care proxy is a good thing. I thought the guest speakers and drafting assignment were helpful to connect what we were learning to real life. The PowerPoint slides enhanced my learning. The problems at the end of each section were helpful for me in gauging my understanding of the material. I liked that we went over those in class together. I appreciated that the professor has extensive experience practicing law in the trusts/estates area, and was able to draw on that experience. I also liked that he brought in guest speakers. I especially enjoyed the class about fiduciary duties using a real-world complaint. Clear presentation of material, very available outside class time Incorporating classroom discussion, charts in PowerPoints to explain complicated concepts. The textbook is really great, concepts are well explained and the problems are very helpful to learning the material.
