Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? The slodes clearly stating elements and things like that Dean Shin was always very clear and organized when explaining his rules. Dean Shin is an excellent professor. He is incredibly well organized; his syllabus and Powerpoints are clear, well designed, and concise. He provides information in a clear way that makes difficult concepts much easier to understand. Other professors seriously need to take a lesson from him in presentation design and syllabus drafting. The way that he cold calls is very fair and beneficial to learning. I would love to take another course with him in the future. Professor Shin is an incredibly intelligent man. He’s extremely knowledgeable about torts and presents the material in a way that makes you think about torts on a new level. TA slides and the PP being posted online The organization. Dean Shin always laid out exactly what we needed to know and is a very clear professor. I found Prof. Shin’s slides in class helpful in understanding concepts. Dean Shin is a wonderful professor and makes sure the material we go through gets covered and that each student understands it. He does cold call but in a manner where people don’t feel pressured by him, this does make you want to be prepared for class. His incorporation of clips and other fun videos to get us to think about torts in real life is a nice accent to the class. Clearly learned the rules I needed to know. Professor Shin always made presentations, activities, and hypos that helped me understand the material and how to apply it. He is a really great professor and I feel like I got a lot out of the course. Having shorter readings allowed me to fully read and understand each case. The practice perfect guide was very helpful in applying the law but required additional cost on top of the regular textbook in order to access Professor Shin provided a lot of hypotheticals that helped learning certain concepts even more. The syllabus, the class slides, and Professor Shin’s lectures Nothing i thought the way readings were assigned was very efficient and helped me prepare for each class. i really liked Dean Shin’s sports analogies too. The class materials like the slides and also practice perfect were extremely helpful. In this class I feel like I have all the tools to succeed I just need to do the work while other classes can sometimes feel impossible so I appreciated that.
