Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved?

I do feel like some of the instructions got lost in the stories. I do like the stories, but when I got to writing the brief, I realized I didn’t have instructions or notes on a lot of stuff he was looking for. I had to google and figure it out, but maybe a clearer checklist would help. I think a little more help with writing the brief. I think maybe having a rough draft due and then a final draft due after meeting one-on-one would be helpful to know more ways we can improve. I wish we would’ve had more opportunities to practice the discrete skills of writing a brief throughout the semester. Justice Meade made a great effort to give feedback which I really, really appreciated! I think even one more submission prior to the final submission, or a dedicated in-class question day, could be useful. From the outline to the final memo felt like a big jump for me and I wished I knew for sure that I was on track. With that said, I really appreciated the feedback we received and I understand if it is too much work for Justice Meade to do an extra submission because he clearly put so much time toward our initial one. Honestly, I understand why Justice Meade has to walk through the rules of appeals and talk generally about how to organize a brief etc. However, I could have shown up everyday just to listen to his stories because I learned tremendously from them. There’s not much that I think of that can be improved. I’m a visual learner, so I might’ve enjoyed some visuals alongside lectures, but I also understand that may be difficult or near impossible to implement in this kind of course. None. At times the material began to get confusing with all the lectures, maybe having the class interact in a discussion As long as the students are prepared they will gain great experience and knowledge from the class.
