Spring 2022 Course Evaluations
Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? I love how we learned real life skills. The in-class deposition for example boosted my confidence in speaking. It was a helpful class to take this semester! getting real world information, robust class discussion The practical assignments and class exercises I really appreciated Ben’s candor about what practicing law in your early years is actually like. I especially appreciated writing an actual 93A demand letter and practicing a deposition. I really enjoyed the balance of lecture and practice in class. Each assignment allowed us to practice building the skills we learned about in class. The deposition exercise was particularly helpful. I felt that Professor Carroll was very willing to speak candidly on many topics that the students wanted to discuss, such as bar prep and post grad job search. So it was refreshing to have a professor that I felt we could openly ask any question related to our experience in law school. In many instances, we would be discussing a topic that some students were very familiar with but other students were not aware of. I felt that Professor Carroll was able to explain the basic topic and have an intelligent conversation, meaning he was able to explain and engage all students regardless of students’ starting knowledge.
