Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

Additional comments

I am so glad I took this class! Na Need more sections so Prof. can focus more on individual students. the Professor was extremely responsive to student questions via email, often responding very quickly, even on weekends! Professor Defabritiis was a very helpful and responsive professor THIS CLASS SHOULD BE PASS/FAIL OPTIONAL. I cannot stress that enough. Good course It was much more work than the credits suggest. Thank you. good course for graduating 3Ls who don’t need to be in the building. Very helpful course. No complaints reflect on the instructor. The principle of this course is great and I think it could be very beneficial if it was under the appropriate circumstances. First, the amount of effort, focus, work, time commitment and assignments this class requires to actually absorb the material and do the necessary practice to learn is far more than what is expected from a 2 credit class, so that is very misleading. To really benefit from this class a student has to have serious and significant time carved out of their life and schedule, not too dissimilar from the study plan for the actual bar exam, and doing so is not realistic, feasible, or fair for 3Ls in their last semester of school. Second, the fact that this exam is the first one in the exam period is extremely unfair - on top of this class requiring tremendous preparation, which most 3Ls cannot fully give during their last semester of school, the exam is the first one scheduled. It’s already inefficient and unfair that the reading period is only two days long, not to mention that many students had final assignments, presentations, papers due this week and had to continue working full time through Friday April 29, so it would have been far more helpful and considerate to give students more time to prepare. Especially given that this course is asynchronous, there is no reason why this could not have been given similar to the asynchronous securities law exam where students can take the exam anytime before the end of the exam period. Overall, I think the class is a great resource and tool for students, but I think the planning and execution of what is manageable during our final semester could be improved. Professor Defabritiis is great - extremely organized, thorough and a great resource and I appreciate her effort in this class and for the students. Again, this is not a poor evaluation of the class, it’s a poor evaluation of some of the logistics. I imagine the impetus behind this class is to support Suffolk Law students prep for the bar exam and in turn increase the bar passage rate for the school - however I think the amount of time, effort and commitment required to succeed and
