OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved? This class was beyond the comprehension of almost everyone in the class and the materials provided no foundation to anchor us. It was like jumping in the deep end before learning to swim. I think Professor Ferrey tried to accomplish too many things and as a result I feel I barely comprehended anything. very hectic use of class time, felt unprepared to discuss as a whole class as we generally received little instructions as to what to discuss in breakout rooms Please no more online classes. Especially of this kind. I can ' t emphasize this enough. If Ferrey could stick to the syllabus materials and cut back on the rambling and tangents, I think the class would be much better and clearer I don ' t think this class is effective in the online format. I think my experience would be improved if the course was done in person. Additionally, I think it would have been beneficial to discuss some of the material to ensure students had the foundational knowledge before jumping into simulated arguments. I felt very lost during the simulations and not confident when making an argument. Additionally, there is so much going on in the energy realm in the last several years. I felt like some of the material used in the course was outdated, such as the tire recycling simulation. I would have enjoyed more lectures like the ones provided at the beginning of the course. We did a number of classroom exercises, but I did not take away anything from them. Other than hearing different opinions, I struggled to understand what the point of these were or what they were supposed to teach us. make it in person I like the experiential aspect of the class but the modules didn ' t always seem applicable to energy or at least not the main focus and it seemed like we were thrown into the material without learning much about the basic laws first. When we were doing the modules and "arguing" as certain groups, it seemed like many of us were a bit confused and unsure what was going on and just guessing.
