OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
Additional comments Overall an amazing class I would recommend to anyone at Suffolk. I think incorporating ideas taught here into other classes is critical to improving the legal field. I wish Prof. Johnson had done more facilitation in class around discussions, and challenged some of the statements being made in class, or pushed for students to better explain themselves, or assigned students to rebut other students ' statements (like a debate forum) for example. There were some wild things that were said in class like "all white people are super rich" or "lawyers should only represent people of the same race/background as them" and none of these statements were challenged by the professor. Professor did not effectively provide feedback for reflection journals, which left me concerned that the professor did not receive them, although they were sent via email and thus must have been delivered. Professor felt unreachable outside of class. One time when I reached out she did not respond to my individual email, but instead addressed the whole class. I would have preferred if she just responded to let me know that she had received it and should have addressed it in her subsequent email. This course should be considered as a mandatory course at Suffolk along with diversity and inclusion. As a person who plans in going into business law, i found this eye opening and i think its a course many students at Suffolk could learn from.
