OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

I noticed that 1C and 1D were not on the same path for the second half of the semester, is it common for one class to be so far ahead compared to another class? Not a critic, as I truly loved the class and professor Glannon, but just a curious question. None--Glannon is fantastic!! So was our TA, Annie! Finding a way to ensure that class doesn ' t get derailed by class participation. Sometimes students were allowed to go on minutes long tangents that brought the topic off course. N/A! I loved the format of this course and the materials were relevant and given with an objective in mind. The content of the syllabus was great and very detailed, however, the structure of the syllabus since it did not have any dates listed was oftentimes very hard to follow. The only aspect of the course that I would consider improving is how the syllabus is followed. At times, it was difficult to follow email updates with the required reading assignments for the next class. I want to be clear that this was, by no means, the norm for how I felt the expectations were conveyed, only a few instances occurred where I was a bit lost trying to figure out what what was assigned for class. Sometimes when I asked a question for clarifying a new topic I did not have much experience with, the professor would answer with another question which left me more confused. When asking a question if he could give a response if I am correct or not before giving a new twist on my question that would be helpful. Some of the more extravagant hypos made by my fellow classmates could have been entertains less while in the classroom. I believe improvements should be made in the professor ' s conveyance of clear and precise answers to basic procedural questions. Rather than ask other students in the class what they think the answer is, he should be utilizing his expertise and experience in the field to answer those questions. Nothing comes to mind, it was everything I was told to expect and more about law school classes. Professor Glannon has legendary statutus at Suffolk Law, and it is well-deserved. But over the course of the semester, I began to see that there ' s something of an emperor ' s clothes situation going on. Because his reputation precedes him and because he truly is a charismatic lecturer with passion for his subject, it is not apparent that his fireworks style of delivery and his dramatic flair doesn ' t always make for the clearest explanations of legal concepts for his students. Yes, we have his coursebook and E&E to refer to, but it would also be nice to have a less flowery delivery of the materials. I had to resort to supplementing his classes with Barbri ' s Rich Freer, who spoke more simply and clearly about civ pro topics, to finally understand certain topics. I would appreciate having had a teaching style that was less about the man and his aim of being an electrifying lecturer and more about clarifying the technical complexities that is much of civ pro.
