OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? I learned so much in this class that I had no idea about, im sure thats what most of law school is, but i felt I learned a lot. This class specifically enabled me to strengthen my critical reading, case briefing, and organizational abilities due to the volume of the reading and the often challenging nature of it. I think it helped my understanding of the general rules and terms that are used in law. It gave me a deeper understanding of the rules and process of litigation. Learning from real world examples I ' m unsure right now It has gave me more insight into what I might want to do with my career. Civ Pro is obviously super important for law students to know, she ' s probably the best professor/ best way of teaching the course I could ' ve hoped for I was not interested in litigation before this class. Now I am very interested in litigation. This class also taught me how to effectively learn in law school because it mixed superb textbooks (making it easy and rewarding to do pre-work) with superb in-class instruction (making it easy and rewarding to be focused in class) and outstanding TA reviews (making it easy and rewarding to outline) and assessments of our understanding through polls and quizzes (making it easy and rewarding to track progress). As the semester progressed I recognized that I needed to set up those support structures for my class where that was not the case. Thank you. Learning about how cases transfer from the different courts was extremely beneficial to all of my classes as it provided a good baseline to ground myself in. this helped me understand the rules and procedures of court This was my first introduction to federal rules of civil procedure and definitely benefited my understanding of the law. allowing students to work through hypos on their own Through her quizzes she helped me learn to be better prepared for exams and quizzes. It helped me understand Civ Pro. use of in-class questions and the format in which the information was taught I feel very confident in my ability to answer cvil procedural questions that may arise as I begin working in law firms. Simard structured discussions around formulating viable arguments for parties when it came to talking about particular topics. For example during our discussion of minimum contacts we worked to use the facts and derive arguments that could support a certain outcome. This was extremely helpful for working through hypos. Civ Pro helped to be the “glue” between different classes I’ve already taken or am currently taking. Part of me wishes I was able to take it concurrently with Torts.
