Understanding which cases we are covering in more detail each day could help. Oftentimes the reading assignments were a bit confusing, so clarification could help There needs to be more in class time. It was not beneficial for us to hear from guest speakers. It should have been an optional panel. And there needs to be more clarity on what the professor expects. Many students have asked how how she expects us to write exams and there hasn’t been any help from the professor. After major protests, she let us keep the rubric. It was the only thing that gave us an idea of what she is looking for. Other of professors are exceedingly clear with what they expect. While in civil procedure we are in the dark on most things. Even questions. Sometimes professor Burstein becomes combative with questions or dancing around a question if a student is confused about an exam question. Civil procedure is the class that I am more interested in yet I feel it would be the one where I do the worst. I do not understand what the professor is looking for since her midterm, which was graded by our classmates, confused me more than guided me in how to answer her questions. The final is an essay, which I think should be an opportunity for the student to demonstrate their knowledge about the rules of civil procedure and she is trying to trick us by giving us facts about two clients yet she only expects us to talk about one. There is a word limit, that I think is very unfair for the amount of words that each rule have and how important it is to talk about facts in our analysis. When we ask her about what she will do, she says she will stop reading by the time we hit the limit. I think that overall Professor Burstein is a very smart and intelligent individual. However, I think that she could do a better job of responding in a less condescending way to questions and such asked in class. Class is more mundane and lethargic than other classes. I don ' t think professor is all that passionate about civil procedure which makes it a bit stale. The style of teaching could be more conducive to 1L classes. The professor was never available outside of class or for questions, was rude and dismissive towards students, focused a majority of the class discussions on tort or patent issues). This was by far the worst teaching style and class I have ever been exposed to. I think that being more respectful and compassionate towards questions will enhance classroom learning and create a more effective learning environment. Professor Burstein really struggled to teach this course. I have a lot of empathy for someone trying to come teach at a new school, but I felt like questions were constantly disregarded or met with disrespectful responses from Professor Burstein. She was unwilling to adapt her teaching style when it was clearly not working for the class, and her cold-calls were focused on seeing how far they could go to trip up students rather than using a student ' s perspective to work the whole class through the material. She consistently responded to student emails negatively and told us to ask the TA instead, and did a poor job providing practice materials when we were
