OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

What did you like most about the online portion of the course and what areas could be improved? Prof. Scheuerman is a GREAT professor who truly cares about her students ' success and understanding of the course material. No areas are necessary for improvement. The slides are incredible. Thank you for always posting the recorded lectures and slides almost immediately after class. So helpful. Typically, I sit and go over the slides right after lecture, and this really helps me solidify what we ' ve learned. Also, thank you, Prof. S, for implementing the five-minute Zoom breaks. This was an awesome way to respond to mid-semester feedback. I liked that a lot. As someone with ADHD, I also found the interaction of polls and chats helped me remain focused throughout the class. Having the classes recorded is also very helpful for me to review areas where I have struggled. see above Like breakout rooms & charts/slides. Material felt rushed - incorporate more group work, i like polls rather than waterfall chats! none I really enjoyed the polling and chat questions. This is a very dense class with lots of material. It lends itself to near rapid fire lecturing for 2 hours. This class saved me the commute in where all I would do is sit and listen carefully while she went through her brilliant slides. This is NOT a class where the ineffable in person dynamics make a difference. This is a bar prep class in which I simply need the material distilled and taught in a way that is engaging, which Prof. S does very well. The only area of improvement that I can think of is noted above, and I want to reiterate that my disliking breakout rooms is just a preference, not a flaw in the way Prof. S ran the online class. It provided significant flexibility and was used well to include time in class to effectively work well in groups together. I liked the online quizzes and breakout rooms. I think the only thing I would improve would be maybe including a few "bonus" classes outside of designated classes for additional review classes for students who need them. I would have gladly attended a couple friday meetings this semester to hear certain confusing topics explained a second time. The organization of syll / slides / presentation was my favorite part. Went fast at times, but going back through slides was easy and cleared up issues I loved the polling and various ways to participate in class (for someone who does not often raise their hand). The weekly quizzes were also helpful check-ins for how I was understanding material. The Mud Cards are brilliant -- I loved having another way to ask questions! I avoid online courses, as I get easily distracted and find it difficult to remain engaged. Professor Scheuerman found a way to make the class interesting, engaging, and more formal than a typical online class. I felt she exceeded my expectations and the class felt like it was in
