OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? n/a Helpful start to my bar prep on Trusts and Estates. three guest speakers from professor ' s firm shared their practical experiences regarding trusts and estates and that was really helpful. T&E is relevant to everyone ' s life, so I ' m happy I know more about estate planning. I now better understand what a trust is. This course provided good background for Triss and Wills. Prof. Malley brought in a few of her colleagues to speak to us about different aspects of the class which gave me a different perspective on the course. I also enjoyed going through the problems in the textbook as a class rather than leaving it to students to do. I feel as though I really understand how the major concepts apply to real life estate planning situations. I think the material is extensive. It is beneficial for the bar as well as my career as I now have a better understanding of property law and how assets flow upon death. I previously worked for a financial advisor and corporate trustee, so learning the legal side of trusts and estates was exciting and helped me complete a mental picture of trusts and estates. Professor Malley brought in outside speakers and was constantly using real world examples in class, it made the course not only enjoyable but also provided a look into what different practitioners go through in the trust and estates field. A good glimpse of an area of law I otherwise would not have studied. I think that in addition to her lectures the fact that she brought in people to talk about the material in practice was a great addition to help with my intellectual development. its on the bar so i need to learn it basics of trusts and estate for the bar a I learned I will not go into estate planning. Trust and Estates is tested on the bar and this was a good survey course for that.
