OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
confused me, and many other students, and I feel if more material would have been provided on this topic, I could have gained a deeper understanding of it. More examples and practice problems for Assignments 9-10 (estates and RAP) would be helpful. Maybe having alternative formulations for discussing concepts. Maybe recommend study aid/Glannon Guide. I would prefer more slides but it is not that big of a deal I think she needs to be reevaluated in whether or not she effectively is able to teach property law, which is arguably one of the more complicated 1L courses Less emphasis on speeding through the various topics and taking more time to ensure students get more out of all the concepts. Often it felt like we moved too fast through the material. Griffith is a bit inflexible with her approaches. She has only one way of explaining things. If a student struggles with the explanation, she just doubles down and says things like "you just have to do it this way," or, "that ' s just how it is, I don ' t know how to explain it another way." I also think people who don ' t learn as well from reading must have really struggled. I talked to other students who sought out explanatory videos, graphics, and analogies elsewhere because the book was not enough for them. In class, Griffith basically read straight from the text and used the same examples that were in the text. Not a whole lot of creativity or effort to make the subject matter more fun. allow students to voluntary more than cold call. I know that this course used to be a full year and I can tell that the workload is a little more compared to the other 1L courses. This is not necessarily a criticism, as I assume that because this condensed version is new, the kinks will be sorted out throughout the next couple of semesters. While the course load was a lot, it was not unbearable, but it was difficult at the beginning of the class as we were learning how to be law students, how to brief, and how to prepare for class, as well as reading 2 assignments for property a week. I also wish that the class was more discussion based and had more hypotheticals. She does not always see people who are raising their hands for questions. It ' s an incredibly dry topic, so I ' m not sure the instruction needs any improvement. I do not think that putting the course as one semester is beneficial to learning property. The material is so dense and heavy, that having to speed through the material in one semester is alot. I do not spend nearly enough time on one subject, whereby if it was split in two semesters it would be easier to understand the material.
