OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? We discussed important professional skills like networking and internships. This course helped me expand my relationships, discussed networking strategies, and allowed us to hear from upper level students about their experiences. It helped benefit my professional development because it made me think more carefully about myself and what I am doing This class allowed me to develop practical skills in finding, interviewing for, and getting a job or internship in the legal profession. Additionally, this class allowed me to focus on my mental and physical health each week, making me a more well rounded and happier law student. It has helped me work on my mental and emotional health throughout the stress of law school, building habits that will help me in my professional career. It did not. This class was a huge waste of time and resources considering the all consuming pressure of 1L to begin with. The pressure placed on assignments and controversial class topics is ridiculous. The class is supposed to help students succeed in 1L but in my opinion, it only further hindered my ability to focus on what is important. I was already planning to tackle the skills we were encouraged to tackle, and the class simply provided a framework for self-evaluation. It was also a lesson in how to deal with a cranky boss. It really benefitted my professional development. Prof. Baker holds students to a high level of accountability which reflects the professional world. The course material also is designed to help students succeed as lawyers in a diverse range of scenarios.
