OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development? Professor McCurdy posed the right questions. Cutting out the "fluff" that came with the Socratic method. Thus, providing a clear cut arrival at the solution. This differs from traditional lawyering. It makes sense giving the environment that Professor McCurdy ' s works in. Banks employs lawyers, not so much for answers, but rather business solutions. To go above and beyond the regulatory issues. Truthfully, I never pictured working at a bank. This out of the impression/bias that often applies when someone views my resume. Which is why I was not forthcoming about my background at the introduction that first class. Banking was my hidden interest. However, probably the closest I can ever get to Banking was learning theory and doctrine (this did not turn out to be a doctrine course thankfully). Months later, and after many moons of self reflection, I felt more comfortable in being honest. What I got most out of Banking Law, was clarity and direction in life and law school. It would not be a 180 reversal going from my original career to Banking, rather I am building a career that can lead me into banking. At first, I had little or no hopes that anyone at the Officers Meeting would be interested in talking, let alone hire, me. Still, I loved learning about finance. Plus, free refreshments. Attending the Officers Meeting opened doors to new opportunities. Professor McCurdy and the Meeting showed me that a lot is possible, and can be possible, with the right character and culture. I do not feel as though I am stuck or limited. I was wrong for doubting myself. I can confidently say, I would love to work for a bank. Many thanks for the realization and for teaching me. I really enjoyed the guest lecturers who came into our class. Not only did they give us some great hands on experience with banking they were incredibly nice and great teachers
