Fall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? I think that the class is brilliantly designed at every juncture. The roleplays are excellent, preparing for them is rewarding and instructive, and the journals are formative rather than the busy work that proliferates through many other like classes. The lectures were all useful and digestable, as were the readings. the practice negotiations Professor Reiss knows her stuff and it shows. Her experience makes the class great. The practical negotiations were an excellent way to actually put into practice what we discussed in class. The chance to work closely with my peers and learn from them as well as the teacher was a new approach to a class and I liked the collaboration. I also liked debriefing with power-points and a mini lecture after the simulations, in order to solidify what I learned and take notes. While I never thought I ' d say this, I enjoyed the homework of weekly journal entries which were able to really help me reflect on each role-play and hone in on what went well and what I wanted to work on the implement the following week. The books we read at the beginning of the semester were SO great. I think I really benefited from how interactive all of the classes and assignments were. I found all of them to be very engaging and informative. I think they provided practical skills that will prove to be useful in the future. The debriefs always helped me understand how I did in my negotiation and the smaller details that could ' ve helped me do better
