RESOURCES

Practice Materials

The Law Library subscribes to several resources that will help you better understand areas of law that you might be unfamiliar with so you can hit the ground running at your jobs, clinics, and externships. For example, MCLE OnlinePass provides commentary on the law in the form of webcasts, books, checklists, and forms.

Legal Research Assistance, Trainings, and Courses

Full-time, professional legal research librarians are here to provide research assistance in person at the Research Desk on the 6th floor of the Moakley Law Library, by email (lawref@suffolk.edu), by telephone (617-573-8516), and by appointment for in-person or Zoom meetings. Law librarians will be introducing you to legal research resources and techniques during a two-week module in your Legal Practice Skills course this fall. In addition, throughout the year, the library offers numerous trainings. Some of these trainings are designed to be brief — 20 minutes tops — and will help you with a range of skills, from using Word to format efficiently, to enhancing your understanding of Bluebook citations, to learning how to better tackle research assignments. Librarians also teach 2-credit advanced legal research courses, such as Massachusetts Legal Research and International & Comparative Legal Research. Consider taking one of these elective courses after your first year to further improve the legal research skills you start to develop in LPS.

Finally, a hearty and heartfelt welcome to the 2027 and 2028 classes from the Law Library! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us – we’re always here for you !
