Law Library
Moakley Law Library Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont St., 6 th Floor
The Moakley Law Library offers a wealth of resources and services to help Suffolk University Law School students succeed in law school and be practice ready. Because students study and learn in different ways, we try to provide a variety of resources to accommodate all learning styles. The Law Library is on the 6th and 7th floors of Sargent Hall, with the main entrance on the 6th floor. There are various seating and study options in the library, including tables, study carrels, study rooms, and comfortable seating like armchairs and couches. Students have access to an extensive collection of print and electronic resources.
Access
The Law Library’s regular hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 11pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 11pm. The Research Desk is staffed from 10am to 6pm Monday through Thursday and between 10am and 5pm on Fridays. Any changes in library hours will be posted on the library’s home page.
Legal Research Databases – Westlaw Precision, Lexis+ AI, and More
All new students are emailed information in August about how to access some of the major legal research databases they will be using in law school like Westlaw Precision and Lexis+ AI.
In addition to Westlaw Precision and Lexis+ AI, all students have access to a number of other research databases via the Law School’s Research Databases page . And to keep up with the news, students can create free accounts to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.
Study Aids
Study aids are a great way to prepare before class, review after class, and get ready for exams.
Access online, full-text West Academic Study Aids, including the Hornbook and Nutshell series (which explain the law) and Exam Pro series (which includes essay and multiple-choice questions so you can test your knowledge). You can also listen to detailed lectures in more than twenty areas of law in the Sum and Substance Audio series. CALI has wonderful online, interactive exercises to help you test and review your knowledge for your 1L classes – they’re also great practice as you prepare for exams. You will receive a code to register for CALI in the August email. SeRiouS was created for law students by Suffolk Law School Professor Gabe Teninbaum to increase memory retention and maximize performance on law school and bar exams. All Suffolk Law School students can set up an account for free.
