Prof. Georges (and Prof. Brennan) were incredible instructors. Their feedback was always so helpful and the class environment they created allowed for learning and made it OK for us to make mistakes as I never felt we would be ridiculed or harshly criticized for doing so. They always gave constructive feedback and the class itself was enjoyable. They are both amazing professors and recommend them to everyone. Love the class! You’re both so incredibly encouraging, even when half of us are about to break into hives from the anxiety you both always try your best to make us all feel comfortable and have fun with it. The class has a mix of people who are naturally gifted with the voice of Cicero on the floor of the Forum, and people who have no natural gifts and greatly struggle with basic public speaking. That surprised me, as I thought it would be entirely full of extroverts. Still, to be fair to the Justice, he calibrates his commentary depending on the student. Sometimes someone would get up there and make a word salad, barely getting through whatever role they were playing, and the Justice would be effusive in his praise (I suspect recognizing that those are the students that need a confidence boost and his word can provide it, and there’s no point in telling someone they are a horrible public speaker because they already know that). Other times, a confident student would get up there and give what looked like an amazing performance, but the Justice would cut them down by pointing out the egregious errors they had made that compromise the case. He seemed to know who to blow smoke at and who could take constructive criticism well, and I certainly appreciated that because he never blew smoke my way. I loved this class and the combination of Justice Georges and Professor Brennan. Hearing their opinions together, and their very different approaches, was so helpful. This was probably the best class I’ve taken at Suffolk. I have massive respect for Judge Georges! Also, Mr. Brennan was amazing! These two gentlemen rightfully deserve accolades for the work they are doing to help Suffolk Law students become better advocates. Incredible people!
