Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

Necessary to know. Torts requires you to look at the big picture a lot, which is different from other classes. I appreciated how relevant the topic of torts is to actual lawyering. Torts challenged me to be mindful of what majority and minority rules are. I like how Torts is similar to Criminal Law (one of my favorite classes from last semester) in the sense that there’s rules that you follow, apply, analyze, etc. This line of reasoning will and has already helped in my professional & intellectual development. This is foundational information for my planned career. It benefitted my professional development because I now know I never want to do tort law. Learned about a new area of law Professor Eisenstat asks thought-provoking questions during class and changes case facts frequently in order for us to evaluate whether an outcome of a case would likely change depending on the variation in fact. In addition, Professor Eisenstat is very approachable and makes himself available during class and outside of class to answer any questions we have. In many. Loves hypos. and they help to understand the material Because of his teaching style, I have a very clear understanding of all that we learned in torts. I now know clear and precise rules for how to evaluate different torts, and will be able to apply them in the future. Prof. Eisenstat effectively produced real-world hypos to explain the material which enhanced my intellectual development by allowing me to see how the concepts we learned in class are applied in practice. Better understanding and appreciation for the various ways different subjects/practice areas intersect. It helped me put things in perspective for all of the real world issues that I see arise every day in law and in life.
