Spring 2022 Course Evaluations

In what way(s) did this course benefit your professional or intellectual development?

Working with classmates and hearing from experienced ADAs discussions This seminar and fieldwork has provided me the majority of my professional development and taught me everything I know about this type of work. Professor Miller was so helpful throughout the year and I feel she really wants her students to succeed, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to help them get there. Class provided a good space to discuss court issues This class really exposed me to so many subareas of criminal prosecution that I had not thought about. I’ve developed the skills and knowledge to handle a criminal case from start to finish. I’ve gained confidence in public speaking and established a courtroom presence. Most importantly, I’ve gotten very comfortable recognizing my own gaps in understanding and asking questions--a skill that will serve me well as I begin practicing law. Professionally, the seminar helped me recognize what I needed to do to succeed in a prosecutors office. I have a significantly greater set of lawyering skills. I was able to get a lot of practice standing in the court room, and get used to seeing the rules of evidence played out in real time, along with constitutional and criminal procedure issues. Vastly improved my confidence to stand in court
