OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations
Below are the responses to the three open-ended questions asked regarding the instructor and the course. Please note, student responses have not been edited in any way. Blank pages indicate no response for that question. What aspect(s) of the course or instruction enhanced your learning? Discussions that involved applying our understanding of the Model Rules to real world examples, including attorneys who violated the rules (both hypothetical and real world examples). These discussions were potentially the only engaging part about the class, but they were helpful. Exposure to real-world examples with articles I really appreciated the class discussions and connecting the rules with articles or stories about the rules in action. I also think the weekly journals were a super useful tool to reflect on what I had learned each week. It didn ' t. I am not sure how other professors teach this course, but it did not prepare me for the MPRE AT ALL and was a huge waste of time. Guest speakers were beneficial. I also enjoyed the multiple-choice questions that were sent out. Having a midterm also enhanced my learning. But overall, most of the material was taught on our own. Yes, he covers hypotheticals and is very easy to speak too The in-class multiple choice exercises helped apply rules and concepts we learned. I am a proponent of practical application of concepts and I am glad Professor Ward agreed. Slide/Guest Speakers Hypotheticals and practice questions. Class discussion. The multiple-choice practice problems helped. I appreciated some of the non-rule-based assignments - different articles and the journals - which
put the rules into context and allowed us to reflect on them. It also allowed a chance to discuss and learn about issues going on in the profession and how we can be prepared to meet them, which we don ' t get the opportunity to do in other courses.
