OLDFall 2022 Law School Course Evaluations

What aspect(s) of the course or instruction could be improved? Nothing

Each class day, this course consisted of a brief introduction of a guest speaker, the guest speaker, and then a wrap up of what the next speaker would be. I ' m quite certain that the words "rules of professional conduct" were not mentioned until the BBO speakers, and even then, only by the lecturers who assumed we had been taught about them (we had not). To date, we have not been taught the rules, we have not been taught comprehension of those rules, and we have no real concept of what professional responsibility is; yet, we have to write a 15-20 page paper on a topic in that field - with below minimal guidance. If I didn ' t have my job to fall back on for those lessons, I would be graduating from Suffolk without a concept of legal ethics. To call this course "professional responsibility" is absurd; those people who have no legal work experience will walk out sorely lacking in any comprehension of legal ethics or the standard to which lawyers will be held in the real world. I had been looking forward to Judge Sinnott ' s course, given his reputation on the bench, but as someone who expected this course to prepare her for the MPRE, this class was utterly useless, and I am so disappointed that I had to pay money for these credits. A review of some of the most commonly used rules of professional responsibility. A little more focus on the rules for those who intend to take the MPRE. n/a Maybe the presenters should have a more structured way of presenting the information. I wouldn ' t have minded mixing in some study of the actual rules of professional responsibility on which we were ultimately tested outside of class. A little more focus on the actual rules of professional responsibility we will have to know for the MPRE would be helpful, just to quell MPRE anxieties. Otherwise, this is the most interesting and memorable class I have taken at Suffolk Law thus far.
