LAW COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

LAW-2677 Employment Law Practice TBA 2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

Students using this course to fulfill the experiential learning requirement may not also use this same course to meet the legal writing requirement.

This seminar will focus on what employment practitioners need to know, including an overview of employees’ rights in the workplace and the drafting of employment contracts and policies, as well as the client interview/intake process, drafting demand letters, initiation and litigation of cases, and alternative dispute resolution. The course will also cover substantive issues in the areas of state and federal wage law and class and collective actions. There will be numerous guest speakers who will discuss their employment law practices.

Prerequisite: Employment Law, Employment Discrimination Law, or currently enrolled in either.
