LAW COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

LAW-2130 Conveyancing Prof. Bernard V. Keenan, 3 credits day; 3 credits evening.

This course will examine various aspects of conveyancing law in a transactional context. Coverage will include topics such as: the purchase and sale of real estate; title examination; title insurance; adverse possession; easements; restrictions; zoning and subdivision; condominiums and cooperatives; mortgage financing and closings. Faculty comments : Faculty Comment: The Conveyancing and Mortgage Law course is structured to balance the academic (i.e. the study of specific judicial decisions, statutes, regulations and codes) with the practical (e.g. analysis of the negotiation process involved in Offers to Purchase, Purchase and Sale Agreements, etc.), There is particular emphasis on the application of course content to legal practice. Although class participation does not constitute a component of a student’s final course grade, it is strongly encouraged, as the class and the teacher benefit from student involvement.

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Property course.
