LAW-2531 Practice Ready Legal Research Ms. Diane D'Angelo, Ms. Liza Rosenof, 2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

Students using this course to fulfill the experiential learning requirement may not also use this same course to meet the legal writing requirement.

This hands-on and highly participatory hybrid course is designed to familiarize students with sources and strategies for legal research and to provide practical tips for efficient and cost effective research. Although a basic familiarity with the law library and with legal research is assumed, the class will also serve as a review. It will provide a more detailed application of familiar sources, and it will expose students to more complex research, sources, and tools not covered in the first year of law school. The focus will be on solving real-world problems through researching the law. Students will gain an understanding of research strategies and tools through a variety of methods, including class discussion, demonstration tours, hands-on training, research exercises, online discussion boards, and group work. Faculty comments : This is a 2 credit hour skills course, and the enrollment is limited to 20 students. In this course students will learn by doing. Therefore, attendance and participation are mandatory. This is a hybrid course and some sessions or parts of sessions will not meet in person." They will be conducted asynchronously online. Participation is also mandatory in the online environment.
